Meet
the Author:
Lili Valente has slept under the stars in Greece, eaten dinner at midnight with French men who couldn't be trusted to keep their mouths on their food, and walked alone through Munich's red light district after dark and lived to tell the tale.
These days you can find her writing in a tent beside the sea, drinking coconut water and thinking delightfully dirty thoughts.
My Review:
I was so excited about this series that I couldn’t wait to find out how it ends. I believe that my expectations were really high of the grand finale and that’s probably one of the reasons I felt a little bit disappointed by some of the parts in this conclusion. Although the story went a bit crazy at some point because I felt like going up and down a roller coaster, I really loved it nonetheless.
The Story:
Caitlin and Gabe finally find each other again. After believing that Gabe was dead Caitlin’s world fell apart though she was determined to continue in what they've begun together and help those that have to suffer under the system of law.
When she sees Gabe alive, she can't believe her eyes and thinks she’s dreaming. Though she soon learns that Gabe isn't the same person anymore since he doesn't remember most of last summer they've spent together. Will he get his memory back and love Caitlin the same he did before the surgery? Why did his parents lie to her and tell her that he died? What happened and who was in on this scheme? Is their love strong enough to survive the ugly truth and all bad that’s laid upon them?
Thoughts:
This book was hard to rate because I absolutely loved the beginning and the epilogue though I found the middle part a bit over the top and it felt like the author tried to put some more suspense into it and got carried away there which in my opinion was a tad bit too much.
I liked the first two books a little bit better because in this third book there wasn’t enough Gabe and Caitlin involved. At least not the ones we knew from the first book. They seemed so different and I know that they probably changed and developed over the time with all those challenges thrown into their way but still, there was too much of everything else going on that the characters were neglected and got the short end of the stick of their own story.
There was also a surprise visit from a character that I hadn't expected to see and I was really taken aback by what's going on.
This was a quick and good read and a really lovely conclusion to this series.
