Blurb:

Growing up, we hated each other.
Now, we’re f**kin’ roommates for the summer.

ALY

It’s been twelve years since I’ve seen him, but loathing Emmett Hoult still runs in my blood. Thanks to the hell he wreaked on my teenaged life, I’ve avoided the prick like the plague. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and after a fire destroys my apartment during the most important week of my life, I’m suddenly as desperate as they come.
Hence the roommate situation.
It’s his summer home. His family said he wouldn’t be around. They said I’d never run into him.
But oh, did I run into Emmett Hoult.
And in the worst way possible.

EMMETT

I didn’t expect to see her ever again, let alone in my house.
Wearing practically nothing.
But now that she’s back in my life, I’m not screwing things up. She still hates me – I know that – but it won’t stop me from chasing the only two goals I’ve made for this summer:
Making things right.
And making her mine.

Things you need for a good Block Party:

1. Awesome food
2. Great Music
3. Fun games
4. A secret spot to hook up with your even-more-secret girlfriend.

Liam Edenhoff is a simple creature. He likes women, tacos, and sex. As long as he has those in his life, everything is good. He's finally realizing maybe he's just not cut out for relationships - surely there's got to be a woman out there who'd be okay with roof top margaritas, casual sex, and no attachments.

Enter a new neighbor - one who is allergic to commitment and prefers her sex casual but frequent. She's seen him at his worst and is still willing to play his games, on three conditions - discretion is a must, casual is key, and absolutely no drama. Sounds like the perfect arrangement. What could go wrong?

Famous last words when dealing with neighbors.

This story contains scenes of a graphic sexual nature, multiple uses of coarse language, and more tacos than is healthy or sane to read about. Reader discretion is advised.

This is the third installment in the Twin Estates series.

About the author:

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Doggie Style
by Piper Rayne
Series: Dirty Truths #2
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: November 20th, 2017

Blurb:

Rumors never bothered me. If people want to guess at my sexuality because I design dog clothes for a living—let them. I know the truth.

I’m a red-blooded heterosexual male and just because I don’t have my tongue hanging out of my mouth around every female like my dog Cooper, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the female form.

Now with Teegan Lowery in my life I’m suddenly panting right next to Cooper, hoping for a taste.

I hired her for her stellar PR skills, but she’s slowly weaseling her way into a spot I’ve kept a NO VACANCY sign on for years. Everything about Teegan screams unavailable. The last thing I need is another dramatic, high maintenance woman in my life. Believe me, been there and done that.

But the sexual tension between us is like a game of tug-of-war and neither of us wants to lose.

I love dogs.
She hates them.
Turns out, we both love doggie style.

About the authors:

Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two established authors for the price of one. You might be wondering if you know us? Maybe you’ll read our books and figure it out. Maybe you won’t. Does it really matter?

We aren’t trying to stamp ourselves with a top-secret label. We wanted to write without apology. We wanted to not be pigeon holed into a specific outline. We wanted to give readers a story without them assuming how the story will flow. Everyone has their favorite authors, right? And when you pick up their books, you expect something from them. Whether it’s an alpha male, heavy angst, a happily ever after, there’s something you are absolutely certain the book will contain. Heck, we’re readers, too, we get it.

What can we tell you about ourselves? We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.

My review:

This book was very promising with a great plot. It definitely was a sweet and lighthearted read without much drama and I loved the humor the most; this author-duo really knows how to write those perfectly.

Although there wasn't anything spectacular happening, the story was very enjoyable, low key, and had a great reading pace. Perfect for those of you who aren't into the heavy stuff, but when you’re familiar with Piper Rayne’s books you'll know this already anyway.
'I have a hot dog bun and he only wants the hot dog.'
The Story:
Teegan has to secure Leo as her client and she does everything to win him over, even when it meant to put aside her dislike for dogs. It wasn’t that hard trying to persuade him because he's very easy on the eye, thoughtful, caring, creative and hardworking, and his sexual preference made it easier for her to keep her focus on the job. Or so she thought, because no matter the gossip about Leo being gay, she can’t help but feel attracted to him.
'Leo may be sex on a stick, but he's not the man for me. Hell, what am I saying? He's not the man for any female. It's true that the good ones are either all taken or gay.'
Leo’s first impression of Teegan isn’t the greatest, because she seems ornery, crabby and high-strung. But she takes her job very seriously and although it’s hard to take his eyes off her perfect body, he gives her a chance to work for him.
'She swivels on those high heels of hers and it's impossible not to notice the way they make the muscles in her long, tanned legs look perfect for wrapping around my waist. I mean. A man's waist. Any man but me.'
Even though both feel the attraction toward one another, neither acts out on it because Teegan thinks he's gay, and Leo doesn't want to cross the line between business and pleasure for Tee’s sake.
But in the end, it’s just a question of time how long it will take them to give in to their desire.
'I swear, this man's body could make a lesbian question her sexual preference.'
Thoughts:
It was easy to get lost in this well written story and I loved it up until Teegan's discovery that Leo wasn't gay. The book was still great after that but there was just a shift in the story and I couldn't quite warm up to Teegan, probably because she felt closed off and didn't reveal a lot about herself. I felt kind of indifferent toward her and I also wasn’t very fond of the secondary characters apart from our series’ boys, although their interactions were a lot more fun in the first book. Jagger's story is very likely the most anticipated and will probably be more complex than the others because of his history with women and his not-so-easy-to-handle attitude. I can’t wait to read his book.

Anyhow, there was one point at which a situation escalated very quickly between Leo and Teegan, and I felt let down how the characters acted and reacted after that. The parent's situation was just really awkward and could’ve been handled better IMHO.
I absolutely LOVED the epilogue though!!

Now, although it didn't feel like a 5 star read, I still enjoyed it a lot. I tried to think about the why, but I couldn't pinpoint it on anything particular.

Ps.: The ending of Chapter 9 was a special treat for me, even though I could only admire him from afar. =P

Excerpt:

"Are we going to have another 'about last night' conversation?" I asked.
"If you want to."
What did I want to say? Everything. but mostly, I wanted to tell him how much I liked kissing him and how conflicted I was. I wanted to demand answers immediately and give him space at the same time.
All the words tried to jump forward, but when he stopped at a light, our eyes met in the rearview. The words landed in a tangle, unsaid.
He tapped the steering wheel when he turned it, using both hands for the first time since I'd gotten in.
"Hey," I said.
"Yeah?" He briefly looked at me in the mirror.
"What happened to your hand?"
"Burn." he brushed his left hand over the bandage at the top of his palm, right where you'd burn it if you were picking up a hot pot handle. He caught my eye in the rearview again.
I didn't know if I believed him.
"What were you cooking?"
"Breakfast."
"And you still went to get a Danish?"
He rubbed his upper lip with his left hand and tapped the wheel with the bandaged one.
"I burned my eggs."
Right. Hot pot. Burned hand. Smoke-filled kitchen.
"You know what's funny?" I said.
"The Three Stooges."
"I don't know anything about you. You could live in your mother's basement."
"That's just where I bury the bodies."
Blatant avoidance. It had been cute before; now it was getting on my nerves.
"Are you married?"
"No!"
He could have been lying, buy lying liars always lied. There wasn't a thing I could do about that except make sure I asked.
Something was wrong. We'd kissed twice, and twice he'd shut down. I should have been the one shutting down. I was the one with all the ex-boyfriend baggage. Why was I the one who was always so willing?
But there he was in the front seat, driving with both hands on the wheel, glancing at me once in a while to make sure I wasn't choking on my tongue in the back seat. Discomfort radiated out of him.
Here I was with my hands in my lap thinking about ways to kiss him again.
He pulled into the little lot and wedged into a space. He turned off the car, popped his seat belt, and stared at the wheel for a split second too long. I was about to open the car door myself when he turned all the way around, arm over the back of his seat, bandaged hand on the back of the passenger side.
"Kissing you..." He stopped and looked at my lips so intensely I folded them back and bit them. "You're dangerous. I can't even see your lips, but I can taste them. I couldn't brush the taste of you out of my mouth this morning. Right now. The honey. I can taste it but not enough. I want to kiss you again, and I can't. I lose my shit around you. I can't do it. My job is control. Do you understand what I'm saying?"
My jaw loosened, and I let my lips go.
"No, I don't. I've met bodyguards before. You're a stoic bunch, but you're not all celibate. And if you think this is easy for me, you're wrong. I'm afraid too. I'm afraid you're going to get hurt because of me. last night..." I put my fingertips to my lips as if that would keep the choking sob from coming. I kept it back. "Last night he showed me he's back, and if he'll hurt me, he'll hurt you."
If I thought seats would be a barrier between us, I was wrong. He launched himself between them and placed his lips on mine. Our third kiss was unexpected, uncomfortable with him stretched between front and back. I wove my fingers in his hair, giving him my mouth, and taking his.
I wanted that kiss to tell him it was all right. He could lose control. He could bemore than a protector. He was as safe with me as I was with him. But I couldn't without lying to both of us.
He yanked his lips away.
"Trust me." He leaned his forehead against mine.

About the author:

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

My review:

~ A second chance romance in its perfection! ~

I'm in L.O.V.E. with this book, with the writing and foremost with KNOX. Emma Jane move aside, Knox Montgomery is mine! *Haha*

What can I say? It's really hard not ramble on about my love for this book... because I love it so much!! =P

I kid you not when I say that Knox is THE perfect guy! He is confident, attentive, loving, a perfect gentleman and great handyman, and not to forget he looks HOT in whatever he wears or doesn't wear *wink*.

The author created a world in which I wanted to be part of because, Knox and EJ aside, the minor characters and all the little details she worked into the story made the entire book so much better. From one of the best secondary characters, Becket Jones, to the grandfather, Caroline (Knox’s Mother) and Wells, they all had something special and added their part in the success of making this book so perfect.

This book was told in dual POV with flashbacks to when they've met in school. It was the perfect mix to get me hooked on the story and I was as enamored with the young characters as I was with them in the present.

There was so much underlying heartache and pain but also tons of love and funny parts which loosened up the tension brought up by the whirlwind of emotions. I felt every nuance of change in their feelings and was deeply engrossed in this book.

So, be prepared because the author really has a way with words and once you're pulled into the magic she creates, you don't ever want to leave.

The Story:
Eight years ago, she left him at the altar and ran. After years of trying to move on, building a new life and career in Jacksonville, Emma's heart still aches. When her past catches up with her, her world stands upside down once again. The risk of losing her job has Emma working harder than ever, but can she just go on as if there's been no past between them? As if she has no feelings for him anymore? As if he doesn't make her heart flutter and her breath hitch when his piercing green eyes are focused on her?

Knox once had everything in life he always wanted, until she ran and left his heart in shreds. Now having the opportunity for retribution he notices that anger isn't the only feeling he has when it comes to Emma Jane, the woman he once loved and wanted to spend the rest of his life with. But how could there ever be trust and love after what had happened? He must find closure once and for all. Though is this even what he wants?
'The thing about encountering someone from your past, someone you were never able to get closure from, is when you see them, there's always this tiny ache in the center of your chest. Like your heart recognizes that person without you articulating a single word; it immediately recalls the agonizing pain it once endured. The pain might ease with time, but it will always remain, it will never cease to be a vulnerability.'
Thoughts:
I love this book! The author outdid herself with this work and rendered me speechless that I feared I had no words to write my review, but surprise, surprise, I did manage to find a word or two =P
It got quite long actually even though I didn't want to repeat myself and just blab on but I guess I couldn’t stop myself *goes into hiding*. Anyhow, I love this book. It's as simple as that. There's nothing more to say. This book had it all and I need to go and find myself a guy like Knox. So please excuse myself, I'm off looking for the perfect and non-existent guy. Because Knox ruined me for any other man...

I was swooning throughout the book and scared for what'd happened and that there wouldn't be a chance for them to make up because Knox was hurt so deeply. But he couldn't have been any better. He's like a wet dream come true, every woman’s fantasy, too good to be true, the most perfect guy ever. Definitely one of my favorite book boyfriends.

Knox and EJ were just the cutest couple ever and he was such a charmer. I couldn't blame her for giving in to him, I would have loved him too because I like me a perfect gentleman. The chapters of them at school were so adorable.

I was grinning so hard it almost hurt when I read about a certain character from one of the author's previous books visiting in this story. He was one of my all-time favorites and I was happy to have him back even when it was just for a short while.

You know those people that highlight almost entire paragraphs? Yeah, I'm one of those people and this book brought out the beast in me because I highlighted the hell out of this book LoL I just couldn't stop myself.

Anyway, all's well that ends well and now I'm so excited for Becket's book ‘cause I can’t wait to find out who the lucky lady will be to catch him!!

My review:

This addictive story will have your head spinning and craving for more. Because no matter the level of sick or crazy, it's a captivating and unputdownable book. I just couldn't stop reading and never wanted it to end.

Having read previous books from this author, I knew I had to give in to the story and not overthink what might be going on, because Amo Jones is a master when it comes to twisted books. She has a way of spinning her stories in such a shocking way that there's no chance anyone could predict what's happening. So, the best way to enjoy her books is to know as little as possible, leap into it, let yourself be pulled into this crazy world and enjoy the wild ride.

Regarding the level of craziness, it's such a fucked-up story that even halfway through the book, I didn't know shit about what was going on. A few things got clearer farther down the road but at the end, I was speechless and had no idea what was real and what wasn't. It's like waking up from a very fucked up dream not knowing if it might have been real or really just a dream.

I’m not getting into the storyline here because the less you know about the book the more you will enjoy it. Just so much: This is definitely not your everyday kind of read.

Bryant Royal was a character I had to warm up to at first because he wasn't the nicest in the beginning, but he still managed to pull me in and onto his dark side. It was thrilling to say the least. However, I came to love him later on when his heart thawed a fraction.

Isa definitely found her perfect match with Bryant. This was clear for me from the very beginning because both had absolute craziness tendencies.

The author knows how to put her readers through the wringer because you wouldn’t know what's happening even when it smacked you right upside the head since nothing can be trusted. When you think you know what's going on, you’re still wrong. This makes her stories so special because the author is so unpredictable. She has a special talent and her writing is like no one else's. She also brings out the dark side of me because let me tell you that I haven't cussed as much in my entire life as during this read.

This was one of the books that got better and better with each page and was so hard to put down. I was glued to the pages and never wanted it to end. So, you can imagine how I feel about waiting for the next book to come out. You know, I'm not above begging so pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssseee hurry up and give us the next book. =P

Note to the author:
I saw what you did there. Thanks for the heads up but the warning there, no matter how much I wanted to keep that clean image closer to the end, there was no way for me to stop reading so I dove straight in and came out of it as a total mess. Fuck! What did you do?! Oh my.. thanks anyway for giving me the chance of staying in my bubble but I just couldn't leave any words unread.

Book Review: Attraction (Elements of Chemistry #1) by Penny Reid

Yeah, I'm late to the party but better late than never, right?!

So, this was my first book by this author and OMG I could slap myself for not reading this book sooner since I had it on my kindle forever. Now I really need to get my hands on the second book because that cliffhanger there, it totally killed me. It ended like at the best part - where the story gets juicy.

Anyway, this was a short read which was the reason why I've read it because I don't like to DNF a book and a short book is a good way to get to know the story and the author without having to invest a lot of time. Although I will invest lots of time in her works now because I loved this book.

The Story:
Kaitlyn couldn't believe how evil some people were and when she overhears two students discussing a plot against her lab partner, she knows she has to warn him. But this might be easier said than done given his gorgeous eyes penetrating her and his muscular body pressing against her. Even Kaitlyn isn't immune to Martin's hot body, charm and intelligence; although she heard lots about his bullying and knows that he, being a jerk face, makes girls cry on end.

But his persistent lands her on a private beach for one week at spring break with the one and only Martin Sandeke. How in the world will she survive this? The chemistry between them is not to ignore but will she be comfortable in this billionaire universe? And most importantly, can she trust that Martin really likes her?

Thoughts:
Even though with this plot, the book could have gone so wrong, it certainly didn't and left me positively surprised. Good-looking, handsome, short-tempered playboy billionaire and most popular student meets nerdy, strange, invisible, nice next-door-girl. Yeah, this probably makes a few people cringe but believe me, this was such a quirky and fun read it might even surprise you.

The writing was refreshing and the characters – as ordinary as they may seem from the plot – were quite unique.

This was an unexpected but really entertaining read. I loved it despite the jerk face of a guy; but I have to say that he really got some bonus points for being kinder than I thought a jerk face would be.

They were both so cute. Kaitlyn was obviously inexperienced with boys and even though Martin had lots of girls enter his bedroom before, this was new for him too because she's so different to the other girls he's met so far and they just were so unsure of everything and nervous. It was so sweet.

Excerpt:

A veil drops over her eyes and the laugh disappears. Whatever happened in therapy opened up too many old wounds she won’t show me. Right now, anyway. Then I think about what just took place between us, and I question my own sanity. What the fuck was I thinking? Sex and business should never mix. I broke one of my cardinal rules. I didn’t just break it, I pulverized the damn thing, and it’s now scattered into dust. Maybe I should pretend it didn’t happen.
But I can’t do that. And why? Because it was the most epic sex of my life. And it was with Midnight, someone I’ve developed feelings for. How the hell did that happen?
Leaning down, I take my tongue and give her pussy one last, long swipe. Then I stand and go into the bathroom to dispose of the condom. When I’m done, I pick up my discarded clothes and get dressed. Her eyes practically burn through the skin on my back, which isn’t exactly the most comfortable feeling.
Before I leave, I walk next to the bed. “I’ll be back tomorrow around the same time. And don’t tell me you didn’t like what happened between us. If you do, I’ll call you a fucking liar,” I say. I want to kiss her, but I don’t. Instead, I tug at one of her nipples and the response is immediate. She sucks in her breath and my dick twitches in my pants. I have to get out of here before I strip off my jeans and push said dick back inside her swollen pussy. I’m pretty fucking sure she’d be willing too.
On my way out, she says, “Tomorrow, I want Italian. Make it spaghetti Bolognese. And find a place that serves the best. If you’re going to fuck me like this, I need to keep up my strength.”
The corners of my mouth curve up. “Yes, ma’am. Anything else?”
“Yes. A bottle of Barolo, a Caesar salad, and some great bread. You pick the bread. And butter, none of that olive oil. Bread needs butter.”
“Demanding, aren’t you?”
“Not at all. You have the opportunity to choose your own entrée because I never share.”
I chuckle. “Dessert?”
“Surprise me.”
I’d like to surprise her, but I don’t think I have a single trick up my sleeve that she hasn’t seen or experienced. That should bother me, but it doesn’t. At least not yet.
About the author:

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, USA Today bestselling author, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So she made a quick decision to quit her job and reinvented herself as a Naughty and Nice Romance Author.

She fancies herself all of the following: Reader, Writer, Dark Chocolate Lover, Ice Cream Worshipper, Coffee Drinker (swears the coffee, chocolate, and ice cream should be added as part of the USDA food groups), Lover of Grey Goose (and an extra dirty martini), #WalterThePuppy Lover, and if you’re ever around her for more than five minutes, you’ll find out she’s a non-stop talker.

My review:

Wow. This story was just wow! Hats off to the author for her inventiveness. I was really impressed with all the incredible stuff she came up with regarding Harrison’s job.

Harrison had a very special team with great individuals. His confidence and no-nonsense attitude were kind of hot. He had people at his beck and call, didn't take shit from nobody and he sure as hell didn’t take no for an answer. As tough as he might seemed to be, Harrison had a soft spot for people who needed help and he sure was one of a kind.

Midnight was a strong character for all she’s been through and I was in awe of her strength and how she handled everything despite its hopelessness and ugliness.

This book was an amazing read and a great example on how a seemingly hopeless situation or painful past doesn’t have to determine your life and that it's in your hands to turn it around.

The Story:
Harrison is a fixer. It started with small things when he was a kid to now owning a company that puts others' lives back together. His childhood couldn't have been better with a family most would wish for.

Midnight on the other hand couldn't be any more different. When her acting career hangs on a thin line because of some sex videos she has no memory of due to being drugged, Harrison is called in to work his magic.
It's a massive understatement to say Midnight's life has not been easy so far but when she thought that luck was finally on her side, her past catches up with her.

Eventually Harrison becomes more than a great help for her especially when Midnight's problems become personal for him too. And who will save him now?

Thoughts:
Although I get where Harrison was coming from and that he was just trying to help Midnight as best as he could, he was still an ass to her at the beginning. But I get that he wanted her to survive this mess and to come out on top.
Seriously, I knew it was their job and that Midnight acted like a whiny bitch but having done something so horrific to you just a few hours ago must have taken a toll on her and taken into consideration. This was traumatic for her especially because it also opened up old wounds of her abuse. I was just really flabbergasted how he and his team handled her. So, as you can imagine, I was torn about my feelings for this story at certain parts.

Midnight's story was hard to swallow. There were very sensitive topics taken on in this book but they were handled very well considering the circumstances. Although I personally wouldn't advise on handling the situation the way Midnight did in the beginning, I understood her actions a bit better after I knew everything about her.
For a while I just wasn't into the story for no apparent reason and the horrendous stuff that happened to Midnight didn't really move me until way later on when all of her background story was revealed.

I also never really felt the start of their attraction or any build-up to the characters feelings. It didn't help that I was a bit annoyed how rude Harrison was at first although I know he meant well and had to pull her through.

There’s definitely something wrong with me lately because at some points I was head over heels. I loved the writing, I loved the pace and just how everything was progressing and then suddenly I was torn about my feelings. There were bits and pieces that I just didn’t like and then there were things that I absolutely loved. It drove me crazy.

Conclusion: I liked the story a lot although it felt off a few times. Maybe I wasn’t in the right frame of mind because like I mentioned before, the writing was great as always and the story really amazing.
