My review:

I keep coming back to this author’s books and stories because they capture me and have my heart beating faster. They are compelling and I want to keep turning the pages and want to know more about the characters and emotional stories. But although this story had some depth, it wasn't enough for me in a way because while I was heartbroken over a death, I couldn't really show any sympathy towards Birdie and what was done to her. If this makes me a cold bitch, so what?! I cried during this read anyway.

I was intrigued by Birdie’s character right from the start but as soon as Cole appeared in the story – which was almost at the beginning – I didn’t see or feel the instant connection they had going. He invaded her personal space immediately while she was having a panic attack and although they knew each other by sight from school, they weren’t friends yet. So I was having a hard time with how touchy he was and how he reacted when she evaded his questions. She was scared and fearful, have some tactfulness man! Ugh! I wanted to shake him to his senses right there! I suppose they had somewhat of a teenage crush but he made it seem so much more with him leaving and wanting her tied to him.

Well, it didn’t get any better with how I viewed their connection although I liked Cole and how caring and protective he was. What also bothered me were all the years between their teens and adulthood that were not further mentioned. I really need more details please. Especially since there was no explanation on how she dealt with her fear.
I absolutely loved the base of the story though and I liked the storyline but it had no width. My mind kept wondering about all the other things that must have happened in their lives, all the experiences that happened in the years where they were apart. The story just wasn’t properly worked out for all its potential.
‘Most people have skeletons in their closets. I don’t have skeletons in my closet. I am the skeleton in the closet.’
Looking at the scenes and the moments separately, they were well written and I just loved how I felt with the characters at some parts. But again, like in the first book in this series, they got involved too fast without any warm up, though I did feel some connection between them later on, thanks to Cole's very sensible character.

I loved the dark side of the story but wished that the scene where the past caught up with Birdie was longer. It just was over and done with too fast for all the build-up.

It breaks my heart to give this book a 3 star rating because it really had me emotional. But there was not enough growing of connection between the characters since it was just there suddenly, as if they had been together for a while already. Or at least been very good friends.
The author knows how to make the characters suffer, hurt, love and just feel but some normal things like small talk, flirting and just getting to know each other conversations were missing. I didn't understand how Birdie was such a closed-up and frightened girl and hiding behind her best friend or foster brother just to be so physically close with an almost stranger all of a sudden only because she had a crush on him. Please just let them get to know each other first. How could she open up so quickly and he be so understanding when he didn't even know her really?! Maybe I just have a different view of life or experience on how people act and react but that's just how I felt about it.

Blog Tour & Book Review: Good Gone Bad by Giana Darling

Good Gone Bad
by Giana Darling
Series: The Fallen Men Series #3
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: November 23rd, 2018

Blurb:

They say one action doesn’t define you.
I killed a man. Stabbed him in the neck and licked the blood off my lips after I did it.
Still, one action doesn’t define you.

I could have called anyone. My father, the Prez of The Fallen MC, our family lawyer, my best friend, Lila, or my brother, King.
I didn’t.

Instead, I called Lionel Danner, the police officer renowned for taking down the Nightstalkers MC. The man who had been my father’s arch nemesis for decades. The man who hated everything I stood for. A man who had disappeared from my life without explanation three years ago.
I called him.

And maybe one action doesn’t define you, but killing a bad man and calling in the good changed my life and it sure as hell changed his.

The third book in the Fallen Men Series. A standalone featuring Harleigh Rose and Officer Lionel Danner.

My review:

Everyone, meet DD Danner!
Now, you wanna know what DD stands for?! Well, I could tell you that it means Dirty Dom but that wouldn’t be sufficient enough. If you really want to know what’s behind DDD you have to read the book because only this very talented author can give you a man like him!

I’m actually speechless because what’s there to say?! The story was captivating, thrilling, all-consuming and had me by the balls (well, if I had some =P). My attempt of a review couldn’t give this book enough justice but let me tell you that the author really outdid herself! This was the best book in this series yet and I can’t wait for more.
‘If Lionel Danner wanted me, he’d have to come to me, over the dark side where outlaws ruled, sinning was route, and love was blind.’
Harleigh Rose was conflicting and a very strong and rebellious character. You gotta admire how tough and cool she was even in the worst scenarios. I loved this ballsy girl. But under this hard exterior was a girl craving for love and affection. Combined with her upbringing this made for a toxic mix which was why she’d found herself in an abusive relationship.
When it got out of hand and her boyfriend was killed by her own hands, she didn’t call her dad or brothers for help. No, she called Danner, her Lion, someone who always made her feel safe and loved despite being out of reach. But which side was she going to choose when she was suddenly stuck between a rock and a hard place?!
‘There was no way in any world, in heaven or hell that I deserved to have a hero like Lionel Danner in my corner.’
The bond between Lionel and Harleigh went way back when she was still a little girl but only now transformed into something so intensely strong and hauntingly beautiful that it physically hurt when they were apart from one another. They had their own kind of romance those two, H.R. and Danner, but I loved it. It was hot and dirty and such a turn on.
‘We exchanged barbs and coded taunts that seemed cruel but were really pieces of our heart offered up on a bloody platter, an offering of vulnerability that no one else would understand the significance of.’
I loved Zeus and he will forever be my daddy. But Lion?! Damn! He sure set the bar high for all the other men! Dirty Dominant Lion Danner was off the charts hot! I loved his controlling, demanding and dominating side.
‘No man could fall in love with a woman who would be his downfall but more, he hers without at least attempting to escape that fate.’
This story started with a murder and it couldn’t have been any better! The lines between good and bad got blurred and the meaning of family got reinvent. Blood was flowing, bonds were breaking or newly forming, death was always close by and love fighting against it.
‘I couldn’t let her know, any of them, how much I reluctantly admired them, their courage and conviction, the way they fused themselves together into one fucking beautiful family unit.’
Talk about being tense during a read. I yelled at my kindle and almost threw it against the wall, and there was even such a shocking moment once that my reader fell out of my hands. It’s official now, this book is one of my all-time favorites and forever embedded in my heart.
‘This was true freedom, giving myself over to the hands of a man who would let me run wild, but keep me safe as I did it.’

Irresistible beats and tantalizing bodies heat up the night at South Beach’s most scandalous new club.

Alex: I hate doing business in clubs. Especially one like Duality. I’m here to seal a deal, not indulge in whatever hedonistic illusion they’re selling. Until, through all the skin and sex on display, I see her. Helen Blackwood. The girl who once filled my youthful fantasies, whose name is now synonymous with pain. Her father’s lies destroyed my family, leaving me with nothing to lose. And yet I can’t deny my electric response to her touch . . . or my urge to protect her when I see the bruise on her face.

Helen: Growing up, life prepared me for society galas and powerful men, not minimum-wage jobs or drunk exes with anger issues. But I’m a survivor. After twelve years, we aren’t exactly friends, but money is something we both understand. Something he knows I need. My review:

Looking for your next book boyfriend?! Sorry, this one’s already taken. =P

Well, damn! That’s how you court a woman! Show her some love and compliment her. You don’t have to be flawless or rich but have her best interest at heart. Give her your love, attention and time. That’s invaluable and Bryce did it all right.
‘He knew things about me just by paying attention.’
I loved it! Tessa was no fool and surely able to save herself. She was a strong woman and didn’t need a hero but superman was just so damn irresistible.
Tessa and Bryce met accidentally when their emotions were in a whirlwind and they actually wanted to be alone for a moment to gather their thoughts. What they didn't count on was that they would meet someone to set off another range of emotions inside the other, but Tessa’s heart belonged to only one man. Charlie, her son, meant the world to her but he’s only part of the reason why she didn’t date. When a charming man with stalking tendencies appeared in her life, she was torn between how good he made her feel and keeping herself safe from yet another heartbreak.
‘For a moment, I let my guard down, and of course, he swooped in with his charm and wit.’
I was very intrigued by Bryce in Austin's story and had a feeling that he would be a great hero. Boy was I right.
Bryce Sexton was one of a kind. I loved how determined, straightforward and stubborn yet still attentive and thoughtful he went after what he wanted, even when he treaded in uncharted territory.

‘It’s interesting how someone who can seem so put together, who appears to have it all, can be so tied up on the inside.’
This book was full of fantastic characters, wonderful moments and emotional ups and downs due to the ongoing family drama.
I absolutely loved how Bryce and Tessa met. It was somewhat magical and fun to have them playing truth or dare. Add in Charlie and the story had the full package.

Bryce wasn’t a know-it-all person but he was all-consuming, confident, smart, very clever and handsome. He was a workaholic though he never shied away from obstacles in life but took them in great strides. I liked how he reacted in situations that were new to him and how he handled them all so well even though they took him by surprise at times. He really was determined to battle all problems; I gotta leave him that, but I guess he was used to stressful situations from his job.
He really had great moments and I loved how he expressed his feelings. He never had to work hard to get a woman’s attention before so he didn’t always do it right but he damn well tried very hard and I adored him so much. He was not only a good listener but he remembered what she told him and really payed attention to her. The way to a lady’s heart.
‘”Treat your woman as if she is the breath you’ll take when you have run out of your own.”’
Bryce was the man we all had been waiting for. Superman aka Bryce Sexton with his sextillion. HAHAHAHA I can’t help but think about him sitting at home in his sweatpants wearing his sexy black framed glasses. And I obviously can’t stop talking about him. He always knew the right things to say and really had a way with words that made me wish for a man too who said all those wonderful things to me. Bryce really went above and beyond for Tessa and took a lot of time out of his busy life for her. (I may be more in love with him than the story. Oops.)
‘”A man will do anything, even create the greatest sin for all mankind, to impress a beautiful woman.”’
Tessa seemed to be a careful person, having learned her lessons in life but even though she was self-conscious in some way, she was still confident in her abilities. Tessa had Bryce really working for it and he didn’t took it as a challenge but really wanted to get to know her and was set in his ways to show her that he wasn’t like all the other men. Especially since any other man would have let her go already but Bryce fought so hard for her where most wouldn’t have bothered for so long with all the hassle. He never undermined but encouraged her and he was really smitten with Tessa which made him show some of his soft side when he acted all nervous like a teenage boy with his first love.
‘Damn you, Bryce Sexton, and your words.’
Austin was obviously also part of this book and even showed his authoritative side once and I have to say that it was such a turn on to see him like that. I wish there was more of this in his story.
Charlie was a great boy. He was so smart, funny and well-behaved. I also liked Abby, Tessa’s friend and neighbor. She was often the needed push in the right direction for Tessa. And then there was the Sexton family, still fighting each other and rattled to their core because of Missy. I am intrigued by the hints in this story which will hopefully have a good outcome in the next book.

What I absolutely did not see coming was the ending. Way to go Tanner. Bring it on.
