I didn’t bargain on a roommate, especially not my alluring, naïve little stepsister. She wants to get to know me better, but what she’ll discover could send her screaming in the other direction—or screaming underneath me.

Summer in New York is hot enough without her panties melting, too. I warned her that curiosity killed the cat, but then she reminded me of the rest of that saying—satisfaction brought it back.

Excerpt:

Something soft thumped against the door, followed by a low, masculine laugh. I stomped to the door and swung it open. Zoe almost fell in.
“Whoa!” Her male companion caught her around the waist, and she squeaked as the back of her head hit his shoulder. She wriggled around in his arms and put her finger to her lips.
“Shhhh!”
The bushy-haired guy in skinny jeans met my gaze across the threshold. His reddened eyes—what had the little shit been smoking?—widened. “Whoa,” he repeated.
Zoe dissolved into a fit of giggles. I didn’t think she’d seen me, or she might not have been so mirthful. Her linen dress was wrinkled, her shoes missing and her eyes and cheeks bright. I backed up and moved to the darkened kitchen, not sure I could control myself seeing her like this—loose and tipsy and flirty. When she squealed again, I turned back to see her “friend” had hauled her up bridal style in his arms and carried her through the door.
“Where’s your bed?” he asked her.
Her hand flailed out. “The Den of Iniquity,” she directed, “is that way.”
He began to maneuver around the furniture, stumbling a little under her weight, when I reappeared out of the shadows.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” I demanded.
He stopped in his tracks, then Zoe’s legs nearly took out my floor lamp as he whirled around with her in his arms.
“Putting her to bed.” He managed to look me in the eye and didn’t stutter, but that’s all the credit I was about to give him.
“The fuck you are.” I stalked toward them, my arms outstretched in demand.
Zoe’s head wobbled as she noticed me. “Oh shit.”
“Oh shit is right,” I snapped, eyeing her friend. “Give her to me.”
His hands slipped over her hip as he tried to adjust her, and his grip left a red mark on her bare upper arm. Fury and jealousy bubbled up in me, like a bottle of soda shaken too hard.
I’d been told before that the more I felt, the less I showed on the outside. At that moment, I must have appeared like a fucking robot.
“I’ll just put her—”
“Give. Her. To me.” I couldn’t make it any clearer.
Zoe sighed. “Sorry, Tom. I’m his.”
I startled, blinking in surprise at her simple words. Whatever had been coiling inside my chest suddenly unwound, and I felt like my head had popped off and was bobbing around like a jack in the box.
Tom looked down at her nervously, his arms shaking a little as he righted her to her feet. “Shit, Zoe, you didn’t say anything about a boyfriend.”
“Roommate,” I clarified, still trying to recover my equilibrium.
She rolled her eyes while making a flicking motion toward me with her fingers. “’S’my brother,” she mumbled.
And just like that, my bouncing head was shoved back in the box and the lid clamped shut over it. But her words still echoed in my head. “Sorry, I’m his, I’m his, I’m his.”
The relief on Tom’s face vanished, along with his buzz. “Look, man, I’m sorry—” When I met his gaze, it was with the guilty understanding that I knew how he’d been hoping to end the evening, and he knew that I knew.
The blazed hipster looked like he was about to shit his pants at the idea that his date’s big brother was about to kill him.
I reached for Zoe, knowing that if I was holding her then I wouldn’t be able to throw him through my coffee table. I also just needed to touch her, needed her safe in my arms. My hand around her wrist, I tugged her to me. She spun over as though we were on a dance floor, her elbows up and caged by mine as her back pressed against my bare chest.
“Nathan, he’s just a f—”
“Quiet.” I felt the urge to hold up my hand, but both of them were full of her luscious, quivering body. She froze briefly, stiffening in my arms. I stifled a groan, my body reacting in completely predictable but nonetheless inappropriate ways to her nearness.
She wriggled, trying to get out of my hold. My arms tightened, and I pressed my hips forward against the curve of her ass. Her gasp was loud, startling both myself and Tom.
“Nathan,” she stage-whispered, “do you have fireworks in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?” She fell into titters at her own joke, while Tom’s wide eyes met mine.
“Uh, I’d better get going…” Tom averted his gaze and made a beeline for the door.
Fuck, who knew what kind of gossip he might spread at her office?
I squeezed my eyes shut, loosening my hold on Zoe. When I was fairly sure she wouldn’t flee or fall, I opened them. Tom opened the door to the hallway.
“Thanks for getting her home safely, man,” I said gruffly. He turned back to nod at me before shutting the door behind him.
Zoe and I were suspended in silence after he left, frozen together in an intimate pose like a Rodin sculpture. Her chest moved up and down with her breath, the line of her collarbone shifting and her neck flexing as she swallowed.
The sweetness of her perfume had faded, mixing with her sweat and possibly tequila. I wanted to lick the salt off her skin, then sip and suck every part of her until I was drunk.
She cleared her throat nervously. “Uh…”
“Bedtime for bad little girls,” I announced. Then I bent down and hauled her over my shoulder in a fireman carry. Hopefully she wouldn’t puke on me.
She poked the back of my thighs in protest. “Nathan! Put me down!”
I silenced her with one swift, sharp smack to her ass. And it felt fucking amazing. My palm tingled, my whole body vibrating with need. She gasped, but stilled and sagged in submission.
Adjusting my hold on her, I ran my hands up the backs of her thighs until she gasped again. Then she moaned. Navigating carefully, I carried her to my bedroom and tossed her on the bed.
“You are in big trouble, missy.”

Excerpt:
(Unedited)

She turns her attention towards me as she rubs her forehead with her towel. “Well, well, what a coincidence.”
I smile and enjoy the view. No point in denying anything, especially since there’s been no allegation. Yet.
“So Bruno already found you. Are you stalking us or something?” she asks, raising a brow.
Aha, there it is.
“Nah.” I grin. “Just your friendly neighborhood preacher patrolling the area.”
She rolls her eyes, but I can tell she’s barely able to keep the laughter inside.
“Got something to confess?” I ask.
She snorts. “Like you don’t already know everything.”
“I do!” Bruno raises his hand.
“Oh, yeah? Tell me then, what’d you do?” I inquire, inching closer.
He closes his mouth and freezes, so I lean in even closer and pat the bench. “Sit.”
He does what I ask and then I turn my ear to him so he can whisper.
“I peed in the sandbox.”
My grin turns into a full-on outburst of laughter.
“What?” Laura asks.
I turn my face to Bruno and whisper back into his ear, “Is that the real reason you didn’t wanna play in the sandbox anymore?”
He nods.
“What?!” Laura’s voice is even louder this time, and she’s even thrown her towel over her shoulder like some kind of statement.
Bruno looks at me as if he’s pleading me not to tell her, probably because she’d get mad, and rightfully so. But I think I’ll play along this game.
So I twine my fingers and smile like a motherfucker. “I’m sorry. Confessions made to a preacher are strictly confidential.”
Oh, that look on her face right now.
Blood-boiling rage.
Magnificent.
“Frank…” she hisses.
I shrug, still smiling as I lean back.
“He did something, you gotta tell me, this isn’t a joke,” she grumbles. “What if it’s something embarrassing or wrong?”
“You mean like that thing we did in church?”
Her eyes widen and the shock on her face is amazing to see.
“What thing?” Bruno asks.
“Nothing!” Laura hisses. “Frank …”
I look at Bruno and say, “Bruno. If you say you’re sorry, I will absolve you from your sins.”
“Does that mean God forgives me too?”
I nod. It’s hard to explain these things to a kid as young as him.
He draws a cute cross on his chest and mumbles, “I’m sorry.”
“Good.” I pet his back and then look at Laura. “See? He’s repenting, so he’s forgiven his sins.”
She narrows her eyes and snarls at me. “You are so bad.”

Series: Boys of Winter #2
Genre: Sports Romance/Romantic Comedy
Release Date: April 10th, 2017

Praised by Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Ilsa Madden-Mills as "the usual Grey crisp writing, lovable heroes that you kinda want to slap, and a heroine that doesn't back down," Resistance on Ice is another fun standalone novel in the Boys of Winter hockey romance series.

Hockey star Nolan Solvenson is nothing short of skilled perfection, both on and off the ice. Or so everyone thinks. His teammates are constantly hitting him up for advice, but really, when it comes to his own life, Nolan can't seem to make the right moves anymore.

Blame it all on Lainey Shelburne, a woman he wants but is determined to keep at arm’s length. That’s why, after a few sexy encounters, he unceremoniously blows her off.

When they’re reunited, facing off against the fiery cocktail waitress becomes the challenge of his life. Lainey is furious with him for dumping her and wants nothing more than to kick him in the junk. But Nolan—typical man—is only interested in getting Lainey back in his bed.

That plan is shot all to hell when they reach a shaky truce and Lainey drops the bomb that all she’s looking for now is a "just friends" relationship with Nolan.

Take that, Mr. Hot Right Winger!

Suddenly, the "know-it-all" athlete is skating on thin ice as he tries to hide his burgeoning feelings from the one woman who has the ability to thaw his heart. But is Lainey willing to try a relationship with him again? Can Nolan resist the urge to walk away?

Excerpt:

Scene set-up: Nolan is not happy about being interviewed by radio shock jock, Marty Quick, and there’s a good reason why….

Marty finishes up with his Stanley Cup questions, and goes straight to the place that had me dreading this interview in the first place.
“Let’s get to the good stuff, Solvenson,” he begins, grinning over at me like a perv. “Word on the street is you’re quite the ladies’ man.”
Looking down at the tiny table that separates me from the host in what has taken on the feel of a far too enclosed space, I run my hand through my dark hair. “I don’t know about that,” I reply. “Rumors are usually just that—rumors.”
He’s unconvinced, I can tell, but too bad. This is a question I plan to evade like my reputation depends on it. And it may. After I fucked things up with Lainey back in April, I was so distraught that I sought out solace in the form of a slew of strippers.
And I don’t mean I found comfort in being with a new one night after night.
Er, though I may have done some of that too.
“Aw, come on,” Marty continues in his patented taunting tone. “All of Canada—no, wait, all of North America wants an answer.” Shit, this show does have a far reach. “Is it true you banged ten strippers in one night?”
I laugh nervously. “No, no, that’s not true at all.”
It was actually nine and occurred over the course of two days, but who’s counting?
Not me. And not anyone else if I have anything to say about it. Besides, the only thing that matters is I’m not technically lying.
See, that’s my shtick in life—being clever, outwitting everyone. I’m a wise old sage at the age of twenty-six. My teammates call me things like “sensei” and “Yoda.” And, hey, I’m cool with that. Why wouldn’t I be? It works out great for me.
That’s why if I stick to the gray areas now with Marty, I can successfully evade giving him a straight answer for the next ten minutes, the time left in the interview.
Yeah, you’re real clever all right. So clever you outwitted your own damn self with the shit you pulled with Lainey.
“You look a little uneasy there,” Shock Jock observes when he sees me frowning. “You sure there’s not even a modicum of truth to that stripper story.”
“Yep, I’m sure,” I snap.
I need to get out of here, and fast. I’m done talking about strippers. And I’m done with this shitty interview. But most of all, I’m done with staying away from Lainey. It’s time we have a talk—a real talk.
And if talking doesn’t work, I’ll do what I do best—fuck her till she agrees to start seeing me again.

My Review:

This was a nice, easy and foremost quick read. The story definitely held my attention throughout the book even though it took me a few chapters to get into it at first.

The Story:
Lainey and Nolan had hit it off pretty quickly and they had been perfect in bed together – although it happened more often anywhere else than in bed. What a shame that he dumped her. And why was that? Yeah, he has commitment issues.
Since their break-up, both thought about what they'd do when they see each other again. While Nolan would love nothing more than to get back to what they do best – having amazing sex; Lainey's anger towards him reaches a new level and she's determined to kick him where it hurts the most.

We all know that plans don't always work out the way we want and when Lainey and Nolan try to be nothing more than friends, the challenge of resistance begins.

Thoughts:
There wasn't anything outstanding but it was an overall enjoyable read.
The characters were definitely likeable but Nolan was not man enough for me. Since this story was told from Nolan's and Lainey's POV I sometimes couldn't even tell which POV I was reading because they felt so similar – luckily it said at the beginning of every chapter who's POV it was and I mean their thoughts were obviously different but still, I felt like their 'voices' were too much alike.

I can't really blame the book on being too short but, as it was a rather quick read, it felt quite short. It was a lighthearted read because despite Nolan's past and his trust and commitment issues there was no drama going on and no deep feelings. What bothered me most was that everything happened rather fast, especially the ending almost gave me whiplash. Every sentence was like BAM BAM BAM. The things kept coming out of nowhere and were way too much and too rushed for my liking.

Note: I sometimes tend to focus too much on what I didn't like, so this may seem like I wasn't much into this book but that's not the case because I still enjoyed this story a lot.

Anyway, now I'm curious about Benny's story =)

I met Bianca in an elevator.

She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.
The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.

She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.

Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn't appreciate the simple things in life.

So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn't want it to end.

I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.

I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.
I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.
I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.

And she was falling for two men.
Only, both men were me.
And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.

Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn't prepared for what came after.

All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn't see coming.

Excerpt:

I’m walking through the senior parking lot when I spot Jordan standing near his black Range Rover, leaning against its side. He’s wearing a white Henley shirt, his arms crossed and his biceps bulging beneath the long sleeves. The breeze ruffles his dark hair across his forehead and he stares off into the distance, every inch the troubled, broody boy that he is.
He looks so freaking good, I’m momentarily distracted by him. I stop and stare, my lips parted, my breath becoming shallow. It’s still hard for me to believe that this guy, this gorgeous, sweet, annoying, smart, strong, wonderful, awful boy likes me. That he might even care about me.
“Hey.” His deep baritone knocks me from my daze, and I head over, stopping just in front of him. “Where’s Livvy?”
“She made last minute plans. With someone else.” I don’t say anything else. Livvy’s secret isn’t mine to tell, and I’m afraid if I start talking about it, I’ll get really pissed. So I leave it alone. “Guess I don’t need to drive your car after all, but thank you for offering. I sense it was huge deal.”
“It is,” he agrees, tipping his head toward me. “But you’re worth it.”
Oh. He says things like that and I’m left speechless.
“You don’t have any plans?”
“No.” I shake my head, feeling tongue-tied.
Jordan grabs my hand, lacing our fingers and giving them a squeeze. “Then let’s go to lunch together.”
“Don’t you want to stay here?” He usually does. He’s always out at the quad, holding court over his loyal subjects. I used to sit out there with him, with all of them, just basking in his presence. But once we had the so-called breakup of our so-called relationship, I stopped going. One, because I couldn’t stand to be near him knowing he wasn’t mine anymore. Besides, most everyone who would hang out with Tuttle is annoying. Frustrating. Awful.
All of the above.
“No, not if I can sneak off campus somewhere with you.” He tugs me closer, his expression serious, his voice low. “Let me treat you to lunch, Amanda.”
When he talks to me like that, looks at me like that, I tend to give in easily.
“Okay,” I say softly, a jolt pulsing through me when he runs his thumb over the top of my hand. Sometimes the simplest touch has the most devastating effect.

She's a firm believer in happy endings, though she will admit to putting her characters through angst-filled moments before they finally get that hard won HEA.

My review:

This was such a highly anticipated read and I was really excited when I finally had it on my kindle. I was anxious to continue Amanda Winters and Jordan Tuttle’s story because the last book was soo good and I was kind of frustrated at how I was left hanging in the end. When I finally started 'Forever' I was really confused because I couldn't even remember what last happened and I had to check out the last few pages of 'More Than Friends' HaHa. I was so giddy when I finally knew what had me excited in the first place.

Anyway, when I started reading I had a hard time getting into the story. Amanda was kind of annoying and the girl I adored in the first books was nowhere to be seen. She changed her mind from one second to the next, always like 'Oh, I love when he says that' to 'Oh, I hate when he says that' . It happened too often for my liking and especially the first half of the book was kind of dull because nothing much happened story wise and I wondered why there was even a second book when there wasn't much going on anyway.

BUT
it started to get better later on and Amanda kind of came to her senses and became somewhat the girl I liked in the first books and Jordon, oh Jordon. I still don't understand what their problem was besides being teenagers and all their over-exaggerated or rather non-existent drama.

The book was still well written and I guess for a young adult/teenage book it wasn't that bad. There just wasn't enough happening to keep me glued to the pages and most of it felt like page fillers especially in the first half of the book.

The Story:
Amanda knows that Jordan Tuttle means trouble and that he's bad for her. But knowing this doesn't help her heartache and the fact that she'd rather be with him than feel this pain inside of her. She misses him and seeing him at school and football practice all the time doesn't make it easier to forget him.

Jordan made a huge mistake. He let Amanda go despite his feelings for her. It's never been easy for him to show emotions and he knows that he is bad for Amanda. She deserves better but he can't help himself and tries to get her back again. But will she give him another chance? He'd do anything to have her back in his life again.

Thoughts:
I really loved the last few chapters, when the characters were like typical teenagers with their problems every one of us knows so well from our high school time but without being overly dramatic.
Jordon has always been put on a pedestal by everyone and had to meet everyone's high expectations on him. So I really enjoyed the chapters when he seemed like a normal teenage guy with his normal problems and when he was so cute I really wanted to hug him. No matter how popular or how good a football player he was, no matter how hot he looked or what an ass he was to some, he still was a sweet and normal teenage guy in the end. And I loved him for that.
He was just an insecure guy asking a nice girl to love him. Reminds me of a certain movie which I can't remember right now =P

I don't understand why they made such a drama about Jordon Tuttle, and why Amanda just didn’t ask him what was up with him when it bothered her so much that she didn't know? She never asked him straight out and was annoyed that he didn't tell her. Well, duh! Just ask him!! He could have told her or not but still, she can't be mad at him for not telling her something when she didn't even ask.

One thing that bothered me most was something regarding Kyla. It was carelessly thrown into the story without anything else happening further and it bothered me a bit. Either you deal with a topic or you don't, but to just leave it hanging like that just leaves a bad after taste IMO.

Em seemed so different and normal. It was strange that I suddenly kind of liked her. Cannon was such a sweetie though.

So, the ending, it was weird. Don't ask. I mean it was kind of sweet but the gift was a little too weird for my liking.
I was unsatisfied with the ending because I felt like it could go anywhere and I’d have preferred to get the idea that everything would work out long-term (or not) although this is really hard regarding a teenage story. But that’s just my opinion on it. You could see it differently and may like it. So read for yourself and find out. =)

LIV
I’ve always been a healer, a saver of lives, until the day my life is taken from me. A drunk driver destroyed my life and got away with a slap on the wrist.

Where children used to be happy to see me, they now run from me.

I want him to pay, to suffer just like I’m suffering. I want him dead.

I used to be scared of my neighbor. But since the switch in me is flipped and I’ve become this monster, I’m drawn to him like a moth is drawn to a flame. He’ll burn me - just like the flame will turn the moth into nothing but ashes – and I’m okay with that as long as I get my revenge.

MASON
I deal in death. Killer. Assassin. Mercenary. I go by many names.

I miss the smell of baking that used to come from her apartment. I see the hate festering in her eyes, killing the light that shone so bright. It lit the darkness in me.

I used to be a killer until that car hit her. It woke something in me, a need to save her.

How does a wolf save a lamb without the darkness in him devouring the little light that’s left in her?

*** This is an over the top, insta-love, hot as hell HEA with a twist of kinkiness. HEA are always more satisfying when the characters have to fight for it. If you're looking for a jaw-dropping, panty-melting page turner then jump right in. This is a Standalone Novella with NO cheating. ***
