Release Blitz & Book Review: Doggie Style by Piper Rayne

Doggie Style
by Piper Rayne
Series: Dirty Truths #2
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: November 20th, 2017

Blurb:

Rumors never bothered me. If people want to guess at my sexuality because I design dog clothes for a living—let them. I know the truth.

I’m a red-blooded heterosexual male and just because I don’t have my tongue hanging out of my mouth around every female like my dog Cooper, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the female form.

Now with Teegan Lowery in my life I’m suddenly panting right next to Cooper, hoping for a taste.

I hired her for her stellar PR skills, but she’s slowly weaseling her way into a spot I’ve kept a NO VACANCY sign on for years. Everything about Teegan screams unavailable. The last thing I need is another dramatic, high maintenance woman in my life. Believe me, been there and done that.

But the sexual tension between us is like a game of tug-of-war and neither of us wants to lose.

I love dogs.
She hates them.
Turns out, we both love doggie style.

About the authors:

Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two established authors for the price of one. You might be wondering if you know us? Maybe you’ll read our books and figure it out. Maybe you won’t. Does it really matter?

We aren’t trying to stamp ourselves with a top-secret label. We wanted to write without apology. We wanted to not be pigeon holed into a specific outline. We wanted to give readers a story without them assuming how the story will flow. Everyone has their favorite authors, right? And when you pick up their books, you expect something from them. Whether it’s an alpha male, heavy angst, a happily ever after, there’s something you are absolutely certain the book will contain. Heck, we’re readers, too, we get it.

What can we tell you about ourselves? We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.

My review:

This book was very promising with a great plot. It definitely was a sweet and lighthearted read without much drama and I loved the humor the most; this author-duo really knows how to write those perfectly.

Although there wasn't anything spectacular happening, the story was very enjoyable, low key, and had a great reading pace. Perfect for those of you who aren't into the heavy stuff, but when you’re familiar with Piper Rayne’s books you'll know this already anyway.
'I have a hot dog bun and he only wants the hot dog.'
The Story:
Teegan has to secure Leo as her client and she does everything to win him over, even when it meant to put aside her dislike for dogs. It wasn’t that hard trying to persuade him because he's very easy on the eye, thoughtful, caring, creative and hardworking, and his sexual preference made it easier for her to keep her focus on the job. Or so she thought, because no matter the gossip about Leo being gay, she can’t help but feel attracted to him.
'Leo may be sex on a stick, but he's not the man for me. Hell, what am I saying? He's not the man for any female. It's true that the good ones are either all taken or gay.'
Leo’s first impression of Teegan isn’t the greatest, because she seems ornery, crabby and high-strung. But she takes her job very seriously and although it’s hard to take his eyes off her perfect body, he gives her a chance to work for him.
'She swivels on those high heels of hers and it's impossible not to notice the way they make the muscles in her long, tanned legs look perfect for wrapping around my waist. I mean. A man's waist. Any man but me.'
Even though both feel the attraction toward one another, neither acts out on it because Teegan thinks he's gay, and Leo doesn't want to cross the line between business and pleasure for Tee’s sake.
But in the end, it’s just a question of time how long it will take them to give in to their desire.
'I swear, this man's body could make a lesbian question her sexual preference.'
Thoughts:
It was easy to get lost in this well written story and I loved it up until Teegan's discovery that Leo wasn't gay. The book was still great after that but there was just a shift in the story and I couldn't quite warm up to Teegan, probably because she felt closed off and didn't reveal a lot about herself. I felt kind of indifferent toward her and I also wasn’t very fond of the secondary characters apart from our series’ boys, although their interactions were a lot more fun in the first book. Jagger's story is very likely the most anticipated and will probably be more complex than the others because of his history with women and his not-so-easy-to-handle attitude. I can’t wait to read his book.

Anyhow, there was one point at which a situation escalated very quickly between Leo and Teegan, and I felt let down how the characters acted and reacted after that. The parent's situation was just really awkward and could’ve been handled better IMHO.
I absolutely LOVED the epilogue though!!

Now, although it didn't feel like a 5 star read, I still enjoyed it a lot. I tried to think about the why, but I couldn't pinpoint it on anything particular.

Ps.: The ending of Chapter 9 was a special treat for me, even though I could only admire him from afar. =P
