Genre: Contemporary Dark Romance
Release Date: June 11th, 2019

Blurb:

Some girls don’t like pretty things.

Some girls like things that are destructive, and toxic. Things that fuel our bodies with adrenaline and bring our demons to their knees.

They say magic isn’t real, but it’s it the closest way to describe love? It doesn’t exist physically. It merely exists around us, within us, possessing our souls and making us do stupid shit. Shit like falling in love with a boy who knows how to rip my world apart and raise hell with a simple flick of his wrist. Their secrets are now mine. I’m not just in the middle of this game, I’m helping orchestrate it. Can the cries of my aching soul be enough to drown out the burning embers of my mistakes?

The mind strengthens the heart, roughing the edges to prepare it for war. This is a war I will not win.
This is a war of fate.

About the author:

Amo Jones is a small country girl totally winging this author thing (she's probably doing it all wrong). She likes cake, loves wine, and her religion is magic. She's a profound work-a-holic, but when she's not writing, you can find her chilling with her kids & partner at the nearest beach, with a cocktail in her hand.
New Zealand is not a state of Australia and rugby is the best sport ever played.

My Review:

I must admit that I was curious how this story would continue and end after the crazy cliffhanger/ending of Malum #1. Although I hated Nate in the previous book, I had hopes for him to eventually come to his senses. That he did indeed change somewhat back to his old self made me very happy. There were glimpses of the good old Nate who cared about Madison, hate-loved Tillie, and annoyed me with his constant mood changes. I take this side of him any day to the huge asshole from the last book.
'How'd I manage to fuck all of that up epically in the span of a few months? Right. Because I'm me.'
Even Tillie found her backbone again and was back to being a badass at least part-time because she still turned into goo around Nate and forgave him every other second. This back and forth between them was tiring but I was almost used to it already because it seemed as if all the Kings have that in common.
'We're all a fucking mess, but maybe that's why we all found each other, because we were all lost on the same path.'
Although there wasn't much to the story, nothing much happening until almost to the end where finally some secrets were revealed, it was still a little better than the previous one. I was also glad that there was somewhat of an understandable reason for Madison's very strange behavior in the last book. Not much surprising that I wasn't happy with how Bishop dealt with it but I guess that's another thing those Kings share.
'They're the most feared individuals by anyone with half a brain in this world or the knowledge of who they are, but really, through my eyes, they're still a pack of boys, just with extracurricular activities, and who wouldn't flinch at tearing a head clean off the shoulders of anyone who dared hurt anyone they cared about.'
This book had a totally different vibe as there wasn't as much violence and madness in it as in Malum #1. But since there were a lot of fillers and not much relevant things going on it was dragging at times and partly the reason for my rating. Sure, the unknown was killing me, although there weren't as many secrets as in Madison's books, and I was glad that there weren't any of those ridiculous riddles, but finally getting to know some answers was the reason why I managed to finish this book.
'This queen doesn't need a throne, she just needs my dick to sit on.'
