My review:
This was such a sweet story and a really nice read although it's not that much my cup of
tea because it's an all pink and glitter kinda story. I have to say that I liked and enjoyed it more than the first book in this series because it was more focused on Zara's story and not so much on her friends though their life still takes a big part in this book. I really liked Hatcher and I would have liked for the guys to get a bigger part in it with their own POVs.

The story was mostly about Zara dealing with her new situation and wrapping her head around the idea of being pregnant and of having a baby soon. First she was in denial and then freaking out – hilarious. I enjoyed it a lot.

Zara's story was fun to read but sometimes it felt like she wasn't yet a grown-up though this might have been because everything went really fast for her - getting a boyfriend, settling down, getting married and knocked up, living in the suburbs - though the story showed just a small part of all this because we only got a short glimpse into her life.

While the time moves slowly forward, we get to know each of the girls story in this series. Though each book has the POV of one of the girls, the story of all of them are continuing and running along every book which is really nice because having read the first book I could now follow up with Morgan and Jayden's story.
Now I'm looking forward to Frankie's story because even though I think it will be a HEA I believe that it won't be a pretty story and a harder work for them to finally find together.

I’ve always thought of myself as a pretty happy-go-lucky kind of person. I wanted to save the world, or at least leave my stamp behind. In my own naïve way I thought I could bribe karma but life has a way of teaching us lessons.

Taken.
I’m forced to watch as they torture and kill my family … and I know I’m next.
I hear their screams.
I watch them die.
It’s the worst kind of torture.

Then he comes. He made a promise to my brother. It’s the only thing keeping him bound to me.
A promise to protect me.
I should set him free of the promise … but I don’t. He’s my shield against karma. He’s my protector.

Excerpt:
Riley~
I’ve always thought of myself as a pretty happy-go-lucky kind of person. I wanted to save the world, or at least leave my stamp behind.
I’ve spent the last three years leaving my footprints wherever I felt my help was needed.
In my own naïve way I thought I could bribe karma. You know … if I do good then good will come my way. It’s worked so far, so why would I have any reason to doubt it.
At the age of twenty six I’m happy, that contented kind of happiness not many people ever find in their lives.
I have parents who love me. I have two brothers who I idolize, especially my oldest brother, Josh. No one can hold a candle to him.
I’m returning from Australia, after taking part in the annual Gouldian finch count. It was an amazing experience, counting all those colorful birds. Before that I traveled Africa for three years, lending a helping hand wherever I could. It made me feel good.
That’s the problem though, isn’t it?
I did it because it made me feel good. I didn’t do any of it for those people I was helping. I didn’t do it for the animals. No, I did it all for me - so karma would have to pay me back in kind.
That’s how it works. Right?
I always keep my slate clean. I’m always polite and hardworking. I always smile. I’m the funny one, the shoulder everyone can lean on.
That has to count for something, right?
Josh started this thing where he calls me his shooting star. Riley-Star. It caught on in the family. They always joke around and pretend to make wishes on me. I shine so bright. I’m the heart of the family … their little girl.
But every star has to burn out some time.
Life has a way of teaching us lessons. Karma, now there’s a peculiar thing. I never knew how selfish I was until my life was ripped away from me.
Me. Me. Me.
It was all about me.

Book Review: The Secret (The Evolution Of Sin Book 2) by Giana Darling

I was so excited to start reading this book that I got a bit disappointed due to my high expectations, though I still liked it a lot.

I don’t want to give too much away but I didn’t like a few things that Sinclair did and that bothered me all throughout the story.
The characters were so believable and real but I hated Elena. I don't know why she disliked her sister so much though I believe that she envied her but still that’s no reason to be such a bitch towards her younger sister Giselle.
(Since I also have an older sister and we don’t get along too well, I was biased but Elena was still a bitch in my opinion.)

The writing was so great that I could really feel the attraction between Sinclair and Giselle. It was hot even when they just looked at each other. There was so much tension.

The Story:
Elle just came back from Mexico where she had an amazing affair with a great guy she’s sure to never see again since she doesn't know anything of him and left him without goodbye. As shocked was Elle when Sinclair was suddenly standing in her mum's kitchen in New York City.
Elle hadn't seen her family in a couple of years and when she finds out who Sinclair’s darling girlfriend was, her family reunion is overshadowed.
How can she deal with Sinclair being so close and not allowed to touch him? How will this unfold? Will their affair be discovered? How will Sinclair react to this situation?

Thoughts:
I liked that Sin did not just drop everything at once to be with Elle but I still didn't understand that he stayed with Elena when he obviously wasn't happy with her anymore. Though he explained it to Elle closer to the end why he stayed with Elena and it’s more comprehensible now for me.

I absolutely loved Cage and I am so curious about Cosima and her mysterious guy. Also Sebastian deserves happiness, I felt bad for his situation. I have this feeling that there will be some turn of events and bad stuff coming along in the third book and I can't wait to read it!

The ideas of Elle’s paintings and her show are so great. I wish it was real so I can go and see it. The tension between Elle and Sin was reachable and it is no wonder that some people picked up on it. I was surprised though that Willa noticed it and threatened Elle.

I liked the characters but I don't understand why every guy (Cage, Santiago,..) was instantly enamored and pulled into Elle’s charm. Even though I liked that she wasn't consciously charming anyone it felt just too much that every guy wanted her.

Book Review: The Affair (The Evolution Of Sin Book 1) by Giana Darling

I admit that I prejudged this book. Never judge a book by its cover fits perfectly to this instalment because this cover really did not appeal to me. Even the blurb wasn’t something that got me interested in the story enough for me to want to read it, partly because I don’t like to read about affairs in general.

But after I read about book #2 I was intrigued. I wanted to read it and in order to do so I had to read the first one first. Let me tell you I am surprised at how much I actually like this book.

This is totally worth reading even when you normally aren’t into stuff like that because trust me this story is not an ordinary affair.

The Story:
Elle finds herself in the lucky position of going to Mexico for a week since her best friend booked already but couldn’t go herself because of work. Elle isn’t good with flying but finds herself in good company to be distracted.
Elle never thought of herself as beautiful. She has two sisters which are tall and slim and she always stood out as the duckling instead of the swan.
When this handsome good-looking guy lays his eyes on her he doesn’t let her get away easily. He tries to pursue her and Elle is taken by his tenacity. Sinclair has some rules though. No talk about private stuff, just sex, a holiday affair. Elle is not as experienced as one may believe and even though she feels pulled in his direction, she is not sure if she should have an affair with this man, especially after learning about his long-time girlfriend at home. Could she be the woman to interfere in a relationship?

Thoughts:
I thought this guy would be a typical cheater without any conscience, someone who’s after every woman. But it appears to be the first time for Sinclair because he just has to have Elle. She is like a magnet for him. Sinclair seems like this cool tough guy but he has a really soft shell inside his heart and when I noticed this, I really liked him a lot. I think those characters fit so perfectly to each other, it’s a shame that he is already taken. But this is exactly what makes this story interesting, the forbidden thing and the secrets.

I enjoyed how Elle gets to know Sinclair without ever really knowing anything about him. She meets some of his business associates and I found it strange at first that they all knew that Sinclair has a girlfriend waiting at home and seeing him cheating on her. But I still liked all of them. Even Margot, because I can imagine me being a bit like her – no, not really. But if I knew someone around me cheated on their partner, I wouldn’t be ok with it either. I knew it wouldn’t be my business but I think it’s just not fair to the other person.

Excerpt:
The fiddle-heavy song faded to a slow and haunting tune. Not letting go of her hand, he pulled her toward the brick patio, where guests were already gathering. “Let’s dance.” She was resistant for the first couple of steps, but then allowed him draw her the few yards to the impromptu dance floor. Once there he turned to her. Challenging him to say no was a declaration of war, a battle she’d no doubt use her razor-sharp strategic skills to win. The next week could either be a whole lot of fun or turn very ugly. He was determined to make it fun, which meant keeping the upper Hand.

He slipped one arm around her waist and gripped her right hand with his left. With slow anticipation, he coaxed her closer. Still at a proper arm’s length, she stopped but didn’t look at him, instead staring over his shoulder. They rocked to the slow beat of the song, the notes of a lone flute and the fairy lights above tingeing the competitive mood with an alluring sensuality. He stepped toward her, closing the distance and drawing her against his body. Maybe he should have been more surprised that she molded so perfectly, but he wasn’t. He was finding that a lot of things about Kinni fit him. She gasped, her head snapping toward him. “That’s a little close, don’t you think?” “No.” She glowered at him, but he smiled back. “What? I’m just doing what you asked, saying no.” He folded their joined hands against his chest and slipped his knee between her legs, tightening his hold on her waist. Yeah, they fit perfectly together, and he couldn’t help wonder how good they would be at making love. “You have amazing eyes. There’s tiny flecks of gold near the center, but your iris gets darker toward the outer edge.” Though her scowl softened, she glanced away from him again. “They’re brown. That’s all.” She was either ultra literal, which was entirely possible, or not comfortable receiving compliments. Maybe she hadn’t gotten many. Not letting go of her hand, he lifted his and brushed a strand of raven hair away from her eye. “They not just brown. They’re the color of the richest caramel and milk chocolate.” As if resisting the pull of his words, she slowly turned her head, her gaze tracking a second behind, and then stared at him. “That’s a terrible description.” From the way she whispered, he could tell it wasn’t a terrible description at all. “Okay, well then, has anybody told you you’re beautiful?” “Only my parents, which doesn’t count, because they have to say that.” “Oh, I don’t know.” He jerked his head toward the living room. “You heard my dad say what an ugly mug I had.” She chuckled, her face brightening and making his heart skip a beat. “I mean…” He swallowed hard. “He never told me I was good-looking.” “No, but I’m sure the hordes of females I’ve seen you with through the years definitely have. Women go crazy for that boy-band look.” He stopped dancing, leaning back a few inches. “I do not look like I belong in a boy band.” “So the facial hair that changes shape every season and the highlights are simply current fashion.” “First off,” he said, dragging her against him and starting to dance again, “I don’t get my hair highlighted. It’s natural.” She snorted with what he took as disbelief. “From my diving trip to Belize.” He glared at her, but the smile tugging at the corners of her mouth knocked the bluster out of him. She was teasing him, which was way better than her being angry. “And as for the facial hair, a lot of women like it.” When she rolled her eyes, he couldn’t resist proving his point. He bent and nuzzled her neck, gently scraping his close-cut beard against her skin. In an attempt to resist, she scrunched her shoulders and clamped her chin against her chest, pushing at him. Giggles tinkled from her, which was the sweetest sound he’d heard for a long time.

The scent of jasmine lifted from her skin and mingled with the clean scent of her hair, inciting a hum of appreciation, or maybe it was a moan of pleasure. Swamped with a lot of unexpected sensations, his playful mood evaporated. The desire to pull the clip from her hair, letting it spill free, and run his tongue along her neck where the warm pulse of her heart beat egged him on. He nestled again and opened his mouth to gently scrape his teeth across her neck. Her struggling and laughter faded. The cadence of her breathing slowed as her shoulders relaxed and her head lolled to the side, allowing him access. The hand she’d placed on his shoulder snaked around his neck while she shifted closer. Holding her felt right, maybe too right considering they were at his parents’ house. Unable to resist, he drew his tongue along the contour of her neck until it encountered her earlobe. Using his teeth, he nipped her ear. “See, you like it, too,” he whispered, lifting his head to capture her gaze. “Don’t you?” Her lips parted, her breath coming in tiny pants.

My Review:
Awwwww! I loved this a lot! It was such a fun and quick read which I absolutely enjoyed and let me tell you I haven't enjoyed a book like this for a while. I loved the characters!! Price and Kinni were great to follow around in this story. It was super cute and made me smile throughout most of it.

The Story:
For Kinni everything has its place and order. People say she is a serious person and not at all fun and relaxed, which is why her best friend orders her to be exactly that.
Having known Kinni for years, Price jumps onto this opportunity to get to know her better. Though Price never had troubles in having fun and saying yes to life, Kinni is quite the opposite and a real challenge for him. Never did he imagine that he would enjoy Kinni's company so much. And boy, was he in for a treat.

Thoughts:
I was captured by this super sweet story from the beginning. I fell in love with Price and Kinni and it was such a pleasure to read about their interaction and how their friendship grew. It's witty but never over the top. I would have loved if the book were longer but I believe it's just right to end when things are at their best.

I highly recommend this book for those who aren't looking for a deep-meaning or thoughtful story but for a light, sweet and super great read. Just perfect for summer. I will definitely read the first book of this series and will also read the next! =) (Though I'm not sure if they can outdo Price and Kinni's story) =P

Book Review: Close to Falling by Paige P. Horne

I like that this book shows so truly the ugly side of life and that nothing is as easy as we would like it to be. We constantly have to fight and we should enjoy the good things in life and try to focus on those in hard times to help us get through them.

I liked this book a lot when I started reading. It was intense though it was a bit slow for me. I couldn't really get into the story at first and couldn’t figure out where it was going.

We get thrown into Maddie B’s world where she is constantly seeking the feeling of being numb in order to stop her pain. She wants to forget and doesn’t want to feel anything. We get to know her story about her drug addiction and learn about her feelings for this special bad boy Raven.

I began loving it at 50% when we get to know Raven’s POV in between Maddie’s and I soaked it up like a drug. I loved him a lot more since I got a glimpse into his world. He was a bad boy as a kid and also had some tough times to go through, though he turned out a really good guy. I love that he knew B so well and cared so much about her.

It's a tough story to read about Maddie’s struggles in life. She is a drug addict and struggles to stay off of pills though life isn't always easy and when it gets tough it becomes harder to stay clean. River is another addiction of Maddie she can’t get enough of.

This book kept me on edge because I hoped so bad that Maddie’s story turns out good. There are a few ups and downs and my emotions were thrown around. The epilogue was well chosen to end this story and I absolutely loved it.

The Story:
Maddie's parents got killed when she was still a kid. After a few foster homes, Maddie finally comes to live with Frankie and the kids Landon and Raven. Maddie gets a second chance with this family though she struggles through life.
After a while Maddie and Raven get closer and they fall hard and fast for each other though when Maddie’s best friend Cali offers Maddie a pill, Maddie takes it without questioning. While Cali uses here and there, Maddie gets addicted and can't stop at one drug at a time. When life gets tough for Maddie and Raven she lets herself fall deeper into it.
The pills help her deal with the pain. They numb her. Will she ever get off of them? How could she handle the pain without them? Does she even want to stop using at all?

Thoughts:
I like that this book is so much different than the others I read from this author. I loved them and I knew that this was also going to get to me and will have a special place in my heart.

I liked the characters even though I couldn't really relate to them. I knew people which took drugs but not like Maddie. I can only imagine how hard it must be to get off of drugs and stay away from them.
I enjoyed the story a lot especially because it could have been a real life story. It wasn't like unimaginable stuff happened and it wasn't about pink and glitter. It's about the hard stuff in life and how you handle what's thrown in your way. And it shows so perfectly that you are stronger with friends and family surrounding and supporting you.

I'm a person like Maddie when it comes to the hard stuff though. I want to run away and be alone. I prefer to swallow the pain and tough stuff without talking about it with anyone. I rather keep to myself and suffer alone. It may be the wrong way, but it's my way. So maybe I do relate to some parts of Maddie’s character in this book.
