by K.T. Webb
Series: A Chicago Love Story #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 12, 2016

Blurb:
Olivia shouldn't be checking out the sexy older guy at the coffee shop. She should remind herself what happened the last time she was drawn to a man.

Olivia should know better than to start something that could ruin both their lives.

The trouble is, sometimes the things we shouldn't do become the hardest habits to break.

About the author:

I am a big city girl living in small town South Dakota. Although I was born in Michigan, most of my younger years were spent between the suburbs of Chicago. Moving to South Dakota was a big change, and I never would have guessed I'd fall in love and decide to stay. I have been married to my wonderful husband since 2006 and we have two beautiful children ages 7 and 4.
I firmly believe in the power of redemption, second chances, and that magic surrounds us every day if we know where to look. I'm a goofy and fun-loving person and am often described as snarky, bold and brash.

My review:

This is a nice short and fast read of a story with a lot of potential that moved a bit too fast for my liking which is probably why I couldn't really connect with the characters and why I had some troubles warming up to their story.

The Story:
Since Liv noticed this guy the first time at the coffee shop, she finds herself craving coffee a lot more lately. When he then introduces himself to her, she can't believe her luck as he seems attracted to her and even though he is obviously older that her, he really is a good-looking guy. But her luck doesn't seem to hold long when her next semester at UNI starts.

Thoughts:
Everything in this story happened really quickly. Olivia and Issac found each other within a short time and everything else seemed to happen shortly after just having met. I would have liked to get to know the characters a little bit better. It felt like that those details when you meet someone for the first time; those 'in-between-the-lines' got swept under the rug. At least it felt that way for me.
Like I said before, this story has a lot of potential that wasn't used which is sad because it was not boring at all though the characters changed their minds all the time and annoyed the hell out of me.
What bothered me a bit was that this certain topic of this story held no barrier for the characters and they both didn't seem to have any problems with it. I found it strange because Olivia just hesitated because she didn't want him to lose his job but everything else didn't seem to bother them.

I had the feeling to read about two teenagers in love which bothered me a bit and when you read the story you will know what I mean because I don't want to give too much away. And the ending of this story astonished me even more.

Because of all the rush and no real dealing of the normally hard situations I can't give this story more than 3 stars. The story was also missing a bit more depth and the thing with her ex seemed like it didn't bother anyone and as fast as he came did he leave again. It jumped from one thing to the other.

Apart from all the stuff mentioned above was the book well written and strangely I still enjoyed reading it. I would surely read another book of this author again.
